Saw this was an issue earlier (previous bug report closed. Same issue - when creating an OpenRouter model and adding an API Key, an error message is displayed: "Failed to validate the API Key. Error message: The data couldn't be read because it is missing."
I verified I have credits (about $20) and created API keys that work properly for other UI tools (i.e., Msty) so it seems to be a BoltAI bug or error.

New version works! One noteworthy observation, OpenRouter shows the App as "PDF Pals" in their Activity (usage) logs.

Ed Brindley: Yeah, there was a bug in the previous versions and now they cached that value. I'll reach out to them to fix this. Cheers

I've just released v1.36.1 to address the issue. I've improved the error message to be more clear (direct error message from OpenRouter server). LMK if it works now

Daniel Nguyen, doesn't matter what model I pick. Same result ever time. Trying to set up Claude Sonnet 4. Also didn't matter what I used for Privacy settings. There are two potential, but since I'm paying I don't think they're relevant. The first is in Privacy > Paid Models > Enable providers that may train on inputs. The second is Privacy > Free Models > Enable training and logging (chatroom and API). Neither setting made a difference.

Hey Ed Brindley, when saving the setting, which model did you use in the dropdown? It's likely that the model require you to disable privacy settings in OpenRouter.
